You’ll undoubtedly find it hard to believe your eyes when you arrive at this gem of a vacation home in the enchanting area near the town of Holbæk in northwestern Zealand. And it’s only an hour’s drive from Copenhagen. Not only is it exceptionally beautiful with its black, wood-clad facade, thatched roof, and white, latticed windows, but the location is also completely unique. The house has a rich history, as it was the first house built in the entire area back in 1932. It has so much charm and character, and you won’t doubt that for a second.

The heart of the house is the spacious living room with high ceilings, built-in bookshelves, light-colored furniture, Danish design, and beautiful details. The decor is stylish and minimalist, and you can open up the 11 connected patio doors completely, allowing light to flood in and blending the indoors and outdoors in the most beautiful way. Step out onto the large terrace and lose yourself in the view that greets you here—which, incidentally, is the same view you’ll see directly from the living room. The cottage is built on a slope, which makes you feel as though you’re at eye level with the sea. It offers a completely fantastic view and a truly special sensation.

Explore the North Zealand area, which offers plenty of experiences for the whole family. Take a trip into downtown Holbæk, which is bustling with life and good cheer. Enjoy a “Stjerneskud” at Værfscaféen down at the harbor and pick up fresh fish for dinner from the fish shop “Suri.” Take a stroll through Algade, which features a handful of unique, cozy shops. Visit the Holbæk Museum. Enjoy the many beaches and coastlines, take a dip in the refreshing sea, or go for a paddle in one of the cottage’s kayaks.
