About this house
This cottage is for those who want to try something completely different.
Karetmagerens Gård is located on a large, protected plot surrounded by beautiful nature. The entire farm is protected and preserved with its original furnishings and is still without electricity today. The place is perfect for the small family who want to experience a bygone era together without disturbances and modern technology. The area around the farm is also protected to preserve the cultural heritage and understanding of the use of the buildings from the time when the farm functioned as a farm.
Karetmagerens Gård, also called Hjulgården, got its name from the former owner's profession and remnants of the carriage maker's work can be seen around the farm. Both inside and out, the farm is in its original style and the layout of the rooms has not changed since the 1930s. This is when the farm went from being an active farm to being rented out to Blåvand's less fortunate. This is when the Karetmaker from Oksbøl inherited the farm and rebuilt it to accommodate three families - each with their own living room and small kitchen, and a modern shared bathroom was established in the area between the stable and barn. The farm is divided into Aftægtsboligen, B's section, which is the middle part of the house and Østlejligheden, which is the old main house. The tenement was added to the house in 1869 and the widow of the deceased farmer lived in this part of the house when the next generation took over the running of the farm. The servants' apartment is the best insulated, as during a restoration a few years ago, cavity walls were built and cavities were made under the floor in the living room and kitchen. The middle part of the house was originally a stable, but it was converted into a home in the 1930s and is now called B's section after the host's bonus grandfather. B was a drawing teacher and skilled with his hands, and he is the one who made all the homemade toys and small ships that are displayed around the house. The undeveloped land around the farm is great for exploring. There's plenty of space for a good game of hide-and-seek, hide-and-seek, herring in a barrel, capture the flag, setting up a tent, stargazing and much more. Behind the farm there is undisturbed nature and the opportunity to cook at the outdoor kitchen or swim in the solar-heated outdoor pool. It is also possible to set up both large and small swimming pools for the enjoyment of children and children at heart.
If it gets too cold to sit outside, you can pull the long table into the barn and sit in the beautiful large room with a clear view of the covered roof structure and surrounded by fun, quirky historical effects and details.
Take a step back from everyday life and live a little more primitively in authentically historic surroundings. Many guests find that when you swap the modern setting for a simpler one, a different and sometimes more intimate way of socializing can suddenly emerge. The house requires work to create light and warmth, and it is obvious to spend time together doing that work as well as playing and playing in the authentic surroundings where imagination thrives. The limited possibilities slow you down in a different way.
