About this house
Værnedamsvej is Frederiksberg’s answer to a Parisian side street, full of independent shops and restaurants with not a single chain store in sight. This apartment overlooks the street but is set back just enough so that the hustle and bustle out there stays exactly where it belongs. City life and tranquility at the same address.
Inside, the original details have been preserved. The kitchen and bathroom are brand new, and the kitchen is inspired by the building’s original kitchens from when it was built, so old and new speak the same language. There’s room to live, not just sleep.
Right below is Café Granola and the bookstore Thiemers. If you hang out there during the week, the neighborhood will start to feel like your own. Green Frederiksberg, with its parks and tree-lined avenues, is just around the corner, and on Gammel Kongevej you’ll find restaurants, the Hart bakery, and the Harlo & Meyer café.
Vesterbro offers authentic Italian cuisine at Bevi Bevi and communal dining in the former church space Absalon on Sønder Boulevard. Aamanns 1921 serves the city’s best smørrebrød. Tivoli near the Central Station has free concerts and small shops, and the Design Museum Denmark at Bredgade 68 is worth a visit, especially for Danish design and textiles.
