About this house
Perched on a hill directly above Lake Hintersee, this historic country house enjoys a remarkably secluded setting—surrounded by mountains, forest, and a property spanning approximately one hectare. Behind the house rises the Reiteralpe; in front, the view opens out across the lake all the way to the Blaueis Glacier. Here, tranquillity comes naturally.
Inside, historic farmhouse furniture meets one-of-a-kind mid-century pieces, contemporary design meets art, and patina meets surprising details. Nothing looks like it came from a catalogue; rather, it feels as though it's been collected over the years and curated with great discernment. Grand yet casual, stylish yet effortless—all at once.
The house isn’t just a place to spend the night—it’s where people come together, sit for hours at the large table, cook, celebrate, read, retreat, or simply gaze out at the lake. We warmly welcome dogs here by prior arrangement!
In the surrounding area, you’ll find the Zauberwald (Enchanted Forest), the Wimbachklamm gorge, and the Berchtesgaden National Park. The Hochkalter Massif and Lake Chiemsee are other destinations in the region. Salzburg and Bad Reichenhall are within easy reach for day trips, and nearby you’ll find Gasthaus Auzinger, Lederstubn, Wimbachschloss, and Café Kostbar.
