About this house
This little gem at the end of a dirt road offers peace and quiet for contemplation. Here you can completely unplug and just be. Or you can immerse yourself completely with nothing to disturb you. The house, which Birgitte and Peter renovated themselves, has sustainability in mind from the start. All building materials are recycled and the furniture is the finest heirlooms, DIY and flea market finds. And wild flowers and plants grow on the roof. The house from 1964 is 20 square meters, consisting of one large room divided only by a single mahogany glass door to the sleeping area. The living room has a kitchen and dining area with a glass facade both front and back that lets the light and nature in. Here you can look out over the fjord and on clear days you can see Orø. The decor is simple and every piece of furniture and object has been carefully selected, testifying to the couple's special aesthetic and attention to detail. The floor is covered in island tiles with petrified tiles, giving it a raw look. On colder days, the house is quickly heated by the wood-burning stove and there is always firewood ready for lighting. When you need to go to the toilet, you can do so in the Little House in the corner of the natural grounds and take a shower under the open sky in the outdoor shower, where there is both hot and cold water. Here you live the simple life. At one with nature.
